I am a master student in Human Factors, a frontend developer and an aspiring UX designer.
I have a bachelor in computer science with focus on machine learning, scientific methods and web development and have worked as frontend developer for 1.5 years during my bachelor’s. Whilst working as a software developer I realised that I not only like to build products, but I am also passionate about how and why people use products. To learn how to make their experience using a product optimal, I decided to start a masters in human factors, where I focus on human machine interaction as well as Usability and User Experience. I am excited to learn more during my final year at university and apply my knowledge to real-world products.
University Portfolio Project
GlobalGreet is the result of a university team project, which was developed in a user centered design process. It is an app designed to bring people from all over the world together and connect them in this special language learning app.
During a competitor analysis we discovered that other commonly used language apps such as Duolingo only have very limited or no information about culture. However, this is an important part of why many people want to travel and learn new languages.
During the user centered design process we focused on potential users and their needs. For this we created personas and specified use cases. Using Task Analysis, Heuristic Evaluation, Cognitive Walkthrough and Qualitative User Testing we evaluated existing language apps to learn from their strengths and weaknesses.
These findings were summed into design recommendations for our own app. We got further insights from a Design Thinking Workshop with potential users. Based on this, we developed a first proof of concept of the design for GlobalGreet.
